The job description is not a contract, the County reserves the right to modify job descriptions at any time.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><u>JOB DESCRIPTION<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>JOB TITLE:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Heavy Equipment Operator (lowboy)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEPARTMENT:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Road Department<\/p>\n<p><strong>REPORTS TO:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Foreman and Assistant Road Manager<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>SUMMARY: <\/strong>Handles and\/or hauls supplies and material (asphalt, dirt, gravel, etc.) for maintenance and construction of county roads and right of ways by performing the following duties, along with other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Operating gasoline or diesel-powered machinery used in material handling, bridge building, earth moving, excavation, and grading;<\/li>\n<li>Completion of project assignments that indicates specific results desired;<\/li>\n<li>Assists in applying material to road surfaces; and<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for reporting any suspected equipment problems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>JOB REQUIREMENTS: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must have a valid Driver&#8217;s License<\/li>\n<li>Class A or B MS Commercial Driver&#8217;s License is preferred<\/li>\n<li>Must be physically able to perform these duties<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to work Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. \u2013 5:00 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Basis English skills;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently or in a team environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>EDUCATION AND\/OR EXPERIENCE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Acceptable experience in a related area of maintenance and\/or construction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><em>Lamar County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
