JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Justice Court Deputy Clerk
DEPARTMENT: Justice Court
REPORTS TO: Justice Court Clerk
SALARY: DOQ
SUMMARY: Assists and carries out administrative tasks for the department by performing the following duties, along with other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Takes affidavits and enters in the system, issues process to constables or felony warrants to investigators, prepares court dockets, sends out notices 1 week prior to the court date, and attends court when necessary;
- Files garnishments and enters in the system, issues process to constables;
- Answers all incoming calls and directs to the appropriate person; and
- Responsible for covering other areas in the department as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have valid MS Driver License;
- Must be able to work within: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Strong communication, organizational and time management skills;
- Ability to work independently or in a team setting;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- General office experience;
- Basic computer skills; and
- Ability to multi-task.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required;
- Acceptable general office experience.
