JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Light Equipment Operator
DEPARTMENT: Road Department
REPORTS TO: Foreman and Assistant Road Manager
SUMMARY: Operation and routine maintenance of various types of light equipment used in the construction and maintenance of county roads by performing the following duties, along with other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operating gasoline or diesel powered machinery used in bush hogging, trimming limbs, and patching potholes
- Completion of project assignments that indicate specific results desired
- Responsible for reporting any suspected equipment problems
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be physically able to perform these duties
- Must be able to work Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Basis English skills
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Prior knowledge of construction and/or maintenance
- Prior knowledge in the safe operation of various types of light equipment
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred
- Acceptable experience in the operation of light equipment which is directly related to this position
