Correctional Officer

SUMMARY: The primary duties of the Correctional Officer include maintaining the safety and security of the facility, inmates, public and court functions at all times, along with other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to work shift work
• Must be able to work nights & days
• Must have the ability to lift 50lbs
• Must be able to follow chain of command
• Maintain equipment Logs
• Provide frequent security checks
• Escorting offenders to and from designated locations.
• Enforce contraband control.
• Maintain daily activity records.
• Must be able to communicate well with Offenders, Visitors, and Staff.
• Responsible for passing out hygiene, & cleaning materials
• Responsible for passing out food at designated times

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Excellent communication skills.
• Must be able to be assertive.
• Firm and fair.
• Ability to work with co-workers in a professional manner.

EDUCATION AND/ OR EXPERIENCE:

• High school Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required
