JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE:            E-911 Assistant Coordinator/Numerator

DEPARTMENT:   E-911 Addressing

REPORTS TO:       E-911 Coordinator

STATUS:                 Full-Time, Non-Exempt

RATE OF PAY:      DOQ

 

SUMMARY: Assists the E-911 Coordinator in maintaining the E-911 Address Database, ESN’s (Fire Districts), Postal Communities, Phone Communities, digital road centerline map file and digital structure map file pertaining to the E-911 operations, along with other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works directly with Emergency Services and other county offices relating to information within the E-911 Database regarding new roads, road names, etc.
  • Assists in maintaining the structure point and road centerline mapping files.
  • Assists walk-in or call-in residents in obtaining an E-911 address.
  • Use of a GIS Mapping System to measure roads and issue accurate addresses for new structures.
  • Assists with putting a structure point in the structure point file for each new structure being addressed.
  • Assists with the maintenance of the E-911 Database, MSAG and ESN’s.
  • Assists with the requisition of office equipment or supplies.
  • Assists in the maintenance of office equipment.
  • Assists the Assistant Planner/Flood Plain Manager as needed in daily operations.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver’s License
  • Must be available to travel to various conferences as needed
  • Must be available for occasional evening meetings
  • Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 

  • Strong customer service skills with a professional and helpful demeanor
  • Basic proficiency in Englis (reading, writing, and speaking)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • General office experience, including familiarity with common administrative tasks
  • General knowledge of maps reading and navigation
  • Typing and computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Delta Computer System and ESRI software
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and work with others in a team setting
  • Must have an understanding of the regulations, ordinances and laws that deal with E-911 Addressing and E-911 Emergency communications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a related field
