Lamar County Justice Court Judges and Clerk’s Office are committed to provide quality court services with fairness, integrity and professionalism in an expeditious and timely manner for the citizens of Lamar County.
The Justice Court Judges are committed to providing outstanding services for all citizens in a fair and impartial manner. The Clerk’s office seeks to provide equal access to justice, to improve public confidence in the courts by providing prompt, courteous service and accessibility and to exercise case management practices designed to facilitate the fair and timely disposition of cases.
Civil Division
The Lamar County Justice Court Civil Division handles 6,000 cases per year. These are declarations, past due account, evictions and replevins with a jurisdictional limit of $3,500.00.
All filling fees are prepaid and are as follows:
One defendant – $84.00
Two defendant – $99.00
Post-Judgement action – $70.00
Criminal Division
The Lamar County Justice Court Criminal Division handles 7,100 cases per year. These are misdemeanors, preliminary hearings, initial appearances and bond hearings on felony cases, all Sheriff’s Department, Mississippi Patrol, Constable, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Mississippi Motor Carrier Division and Mississippi Department of Transportation traffic tickets.
The Lamar County Criminal Court shall convene at 10:00 AM on Tuesdays for misdemeanor pleas and 1:30 PM for misdemeanors trials.
Payments for traffic citations may be made via cash, cashier’s check, money order, and credit cards Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. You may also pay your citation online.
